Alicia G - Homeschool Tutor In Brooklyn NY - Local or Online
I like to spend time outside at the park or biking, and I am very curious about different languages and food from different parts of the world and cooking in general. In addition to being an educator, I work in the performing arts as a puppeteer, dancer, and stilt-walker.
Experience
I have worked in NYC schools for more than ten years, in elementary schools primarily in Brooklyn but also in Manhattan. I got my initial certification in childhood education, and I planned to be a bilingual elementary school teacher, but I ended up combining my passion for art and education in my work as a teaching artist. I have extensive experience as a teaching artist, with a focus on visual arts and making connections with the social studies, sciences, and ELA curricula. Before that I worked for two years as a substitute teacher in various schools around Brooklyn. More recently I have taught ESL in an adult education setting, and I also have a TESOL certificate. No matter the age or subject material, I encourage curiosity, expression, and cooperation among my students.
