Julia Angelica M - Homeschool Tutor In Chicago IL - Local or Online
My name is Julia, I am a proud born and raised Chicagoan and CPS alum (both student and teacher) and I am excited to meet you! I specialize in English Literature, standardized testing, and the college admissions process. In my free time I like to go for runs, design creative writing workshops, and knit oversized blankets. I have a cat named Pancake, but sometimes I call him Pan (like the god of nature) for short so people think I am sophisticated. I am currently teaching myself how to roller skate but I would much rather teach you test taking strategies. Hope to meet you soon!
Experience
To give a brief academic synopsis, I am originally from Chicago and attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School where I maintained a 4.0 GPA. I received a 35 on my ACT (super scored) and a 1510 on my SATs. I then matriculated to Columbia University in the City of New York where I double majored in English and Ethnicity and Race Studies. I received a 3.82 undergraduate GPA, was on the Dean's List 7/8 semesters, and was a member of the Columbia University Scholars Program. Whilst at Columbia, I participated in the Double Discovery Center program where I provided high school students academic tutoring and college application advisement. After graduation, I taught Freshman Connection at Crane High School specializing in Algebra for incoming freshmen. I then began the school year as a Licensed Behavioral Specialist at Al Raby High School specializing in English, where I managed a caseload of sixteen students and instructed five classes daily. I also have received training on how to prepare students for the SAT in my capacity as a CPS teacher. As a Columbia graduate, I have significant experience with the college application and interview process. I also have native fluency in Spanish.
